School District Trustee Zone Mapping
2010 Census
Quadrant Consulting Inc. is providing a special offer to those school districts that have completed their 2010 trustee rezoning projects with us. We are prepared to provide your district with basic hardcopy maps and the opportunity to acquire customized electronic maps for use in your individual districts.
Large Format Maps
We offer many choices for base information covering your district on large format maps. Each map will include the approved district boundary and the location of the individual trustee zones. The options include, but certainly are not limited to:
Option 1 - USGS Topographic Data: Includes shaded relief, contours, major roads, water and cultural features. This option is very similar to the mapping that was provided following the 2000 census trustee zone redistricting.
Option 2 - Street Map: This option includes an extensive road network with some cultural and water features.
These are links to three styles of wall map currently being offered and can be viewed with a PDF Viewer.
(Each file is around 6Mb so it takes a couple minutes to download each one.)

Option-2
Of course, if you have a custom layout that you would like to have printed that is different than those listed, we would be happy to work with you to develop this customized map.
Individual Trustee Zone Maps - Individual trustee zone maps are also available for purchase and are very effective tools for use at polling locations during elections. These maps exhibit greater detail than the district maps and allows individuals to easily find their place of residence. The map size is customizable, from 8½" x 11" to 34" x 44".
Google Earth and kmz Files
Quadrant can also provide your district with individual computer files that are accessible through Google Earth. These ".kmz" files are used by Google Earth (http://www.google.com/earth/index.html) and can display trustee zones on any computer with access to the Internet. This is a handy tool for determining which particular trustee zone any particular district patron resides. The kmz file can also be placed on your website and made available for public download.. Administrative staff will find this tool handy for answering questions from the general public and in working with local county election offices.
Click on the example file to download and save an example zipped KMZ file. If you have Google Earth installed on your computer, double click on the unzipped KMZ file and it will automaticly load and display in Google Earth. Google Earth can be downloaded for free at www.earth.google.com

UPDATING SCHOOL DISTRICT BOUNDARIES
Quadrant Consulting is teaming with the Idaho School Boards Association to assist individual school districts throughout the state with possible changes to Trustee Zone boundaries and legal descriptions due to the release of new census data.
2010 Census Local-Level Data -- As required by law, the Census Bureau will provide key demographic data to states (on a state-by-state flow basis) so that state governments can redraw the boundaries of their congressional and state legislative districts. The data will begin to roll out the first week of February, with announcements about which states will be included in the following week's data releases.
What Should Districts Be Doing?
- The first step is to assemble any information you currently have that describes your local district boundary and your Trustee Zones. If you haven’t looked at the information lately, it may be described in written form, applied to a map or both.
- Quadrant Consulting is prepared to receive your current district information and place the boundaries on a map with 2010 Census data included. This should allow local districts to see the population in each zone throughout the district and make a determination if the zone boundaries need to be changed and to where.
- Once the suggested boundary changes are marked on the plan and returned to Quadrant, a revised map will be produced and sent to the district for your final approval. This can be either sent through the mail or electronically.
- Once approved, Quadrant will re-describe the boundaries and prepare the map as prescribed by Idaho Statute. If current descriptions do not meet the legal standard, Quadrant will redescribe those existing lines to meet the law along with any changes the local district determines.
All decisions regarding Trustee Zone locations will be made by each local school district.
The cost to update each district will vary slightly depending on the complexity of the district and the amount of change required. Quadrant will provide a fee estimate to any district interested after receiving a copy of the information described in item #1 above. As requested by the Idaho School Boards Association, we intend to be as efficient and cost effective as possible.
