The first thing one notices in Boise's Basque Block, beyond the variety of architectures, is the colorful street decorated in a unique Basque theme. Quadrant Consulting performed the civil engineering and surveying for the street renovation of this culturally significant area in the heart of Downtown Boise. Today, the pavement includes designs and colors celebrating the city's Basque heritage, pedestrian friendly streetscapes and granite slabs etched with Basque lyrics and surnames. Since the street’s reconstruction, the area has hosted Jaialdi and numerous culturally significant events celebrating Boise's renowned Basque culture. Quadrant provided site layout, grading, drainage design, project management, and inspection services for the reconstruction of Grove Street between 6th Street and Capitol Boulevard in downtown Boise. The project was the result of a partnership between private property owners, the Capital City Development Corporation, and other local public agencies, and was conceived to celebrate the Basque culture and the influence that the Basque people have had on the State of Idaho.
